Kelsea Ballerini and Halsey Collaborate
CMT Crossroads has made a name for itself by taking a country artist and an artist of a different genre and combining them for one amazing show. Upcoming on March 25th, it’s Kelsea Ballerini and Halsey’s turn to take the crossroads stage. Here is a sneak peak of what to expect on the episode.
What do you guys think of crossing two genres together? Are you for it or against it? Do you like it, or do you think artists should be collaborating with artists in their lane? Let me know!
2020 ACM Awards Host Revealed
My boy Keith has been heavy in the news this week with not only the release of his new single “God Whispered Your Name”, but it was also just announced that he will be the host of the ACM Awards this year!! Last year, he took home his first ever ACM “Entertainer of the Year” Award and this year he is coming back to host the whole thing. I am elated for Keith. He is such a humble and genuine soul, and I am grateful that the Academy of Country Music is taking the opportunity to honor him and all his influence in helping shape country music to what it is today.

Thomas Rhett’s “Valentine Baby Girl”

At 8:30 AM on Tuesday morning, February 11th, Thomas Rhett Atkins and his wife Lauren welcomed their third daughter into the world! Weighing in at 9 pounds and 2 ounces, Lennon Love Atkins is being nicknamed their “valentine baby” (as her birth is so close to Valentines Day). Thomas and Lauren have two other daughters: Willow Grey who is four and adopted from Uganda, and Ada James who is two.
Thomas Rhett Welcomes Third Daughter Into The World
I personally feel like Thomas Rhett and his wife have one of the sweetest love stories in all of country music right now. It is clear through Thomas’ music how much he adores his family, and I am looking forward to hearing the new songs he writes about their sweet addition, Lennon!
Until then, listen to “Life Changes”, written about his daughters Willow and Ada!
Tenille Townes Covers “Stupid Boy”
Tenille Townes has taken an original twist on the song “Stupid Boy” by Keith Urban. Originally sang from a male’s perspective, Tenille takes a unique turn lyrically and allows the listener to hear from the woman’s side of the story. She is able to do this by only slightly changing one of the lyrics from “it took a while for her to figure out she could run but when she did she was long gone” to “it took a while for ME to figure out I could run but when I did I was long gone”. However, the slight lyrical change adds a whole new meaning and hearing a female voice behind this iconic song adds such a different depth to it. I will always be a fan of the original because I feel like Keith Urban delivered it with such passion and intensity, but give Tenille’s version a listen and let me know who you think sang it better!

Keith Urban’s “All For The Hall: Under The Influence”

On Monday night, February the 11th, Keith Urban hosted his seventh annual “All For The Hall” benefit concert for the Country Music Hall of Fame. With an incredible lineup of artists including Keith Urban, Lauren Daigle, Blake Shelton, Tanya Tucker, Chris Stapleton and more of countries brightest stars right now, the theme this year was “Under the Influence”. While each artist was given the platform to sing one of their originals, they also got to pick and perform a song from an artist that helped shape who they are today. I think this was a brilliant idea and gave respect to those who walked the road before and helped mold the industry into what it is today.

Little Big Town Takes Issue With Country Radio

Little Big Town is speaking out on the hot topic of unfair radio play for female artists. This issue has been going on since the birth of country radio, but with the rise of rights for women in the “me too” generation, the injustice of unequal radio play for women is finally being brought to attention. Click to hear what Little Big Town had to say after 98 KCQ Country, a Michigan radio station, made the following comment: “We can not play two female artists back to back. Not even Lady Antebellum and Little Big Town.”
